PENGHINAAN PIHAK PAS..!!!

Sunday, 15 January 2012

Signs of bad moon rising.

Datuk Dr Hasan Ali's sacking from Pas shows the party is facing a crisis.

Selangor Umno liaison committee deputy chief Datuk Noh Omar said the crisis was not only among its members, but also in its struggle.

"Hasan's sacking as Pas member which resulted in his dismissal as a state exco member showed that Pas members who are staying true to its original struggle no longer have a place in the party.

"Only those who will abide by the demands of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and DAP have a place in Pas. Hasan was sacked for trying to uphold the party's fight for an Islamic state.

"This proved that Pas has lost its direction and is now in a dilemma in pursuing its struggle."

Commenting on Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim's earlier hesitation to decide on Hasan's status as a state exco member, Noh said this was because Khalid  was not the "driver" of the state.

"In Selangor, he is not the driver, but a passenger. That is why he had to wait for a signal and had to ask the opinion of all parties before deciding," he added.

Hasan, who was in charge of the Islamic affairs portfolio, was dismissed on Friday after Khalid obtained the consent of the Selangor sultan to remove him as a state exco member following his sacking as Pas member.

The former state Pas commissioner had been unpopular among fellow exco members due to his strong stance on Islamic issues.

Hasan's proposal to ban the sale of alcohol in Muslim majority areas in Selangor was poorly received and he received  even more backlash when he backed the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's (Jais)  raid on Damansara Utama Methodist Church  in August last year for suspected proselytising.

Hasan was said to have sealed his fate when he headed an operation by Jais to check on more than 50 budget hotels and entertainment outlets around the state, which raised the ire of many quarters.

Selangor Pas commissioner Dr Abdul Rani Osman, who was widely tipped to be the one to take Hasan's place in the exco line-up, had earlier admitted that the veteran Pas leader's dismissal would have some impact on Pas Selangor, but did not elaborate further.

On persistent talks of his impending appointment as a state exco member, he said he would leave the decision to Pas central leadership which had yet to submit its list of candidates to replace Hasan to the state government.

On the challenges which awaits him if he is chosen to hold the Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs and Infrastructure and Public Amenities portfolio, Dr Rani said all portfolios came with its own set of problems.

Hasan  is expected to hold a press conference to announce his future plans tomorrow.
